The Computerized Tomographic Appearance of Angiographically Occult Arteriovenous Malformations of the Brain

چکیده

Eight patients with a histologically proven angiographically occult arteriovenous malformation of the brain had plain and infused computed tomographic (CT) examinations. In five cases angiography revealed a hypovascular mass and in three cases the angiogram was normal. On CT examination a high density lesion (six cases) and ventricular asymmetry (five cases) were demonstrated. In three patients presenting with intracerebral hemorrhage, the high density appearance

MR Imaging of Angiographically Occult Vascular Malformations

Eleven patients with 15 angiographically occult arteriovenous malformations were studied by magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and computed tomography (CT). Five patients had biopsy proof; six were clinically diagnosed from the long-term clinical follow-up (more than 3 years) and imaging features. Of the 15 lesions, 11 were recognized by both CT and MR. Each method was falsely negative for two les...

Angiographically occult arteriovenous malformations of the brain.

Six patients with cerebral arteriovenous malformations which did not show any pathological circulation at angiography are described. Computed tomogram appearances of such lesions may be difficult to distinguish from tumours. The need for surgical exploration in localised high attenuation lesions of uncertain nature is stressed, and the literature is reviewed.

Occult cerebral arteriovenous malformations.

Angiographically occult arteriovenous malformations in the brain are rare but cause considerable diagnostic difficulty. Four personal cases are presented in which CT scans showed hypodense lesions with minimal or no enhancement, and angiograms showed only an avascular mass. Gliomas, a dermoid and an infarct were suspected before histological examination of biopsies or excised specimens. The pat...

Spontaneous Angiographic Regression of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformations: Angiographic Disappearance is not the Real Cure Serebral Arteriyovenöz Malformasyonların Spontan Anjiyografik Gerilemesi: Anjiyografik Kaybolma Gerçek Tam Tedavi Değildir

Angiographically occult arteriovenous malformations (AOAVMs) are poorly understood. AOAVMs include spontaneous regression of cerebral AVMs. Here we discuss spontaneous angiographical regression of cerebral arteriovenous malformations (SRAVM). We present the case of a 34-year-old male patient with SRAVM in whom an arteriovenous (AV) shunt remnant was revealed by intraoperative indocyanine green ...
